Best Answer

Wrong: the pH in water is 0 or 1.2

Corrected:

The pH of pure water at 25 oC is 7.0.

When left in open air however it has a bit lower pH because of slightly carbon dioxide dissolution (forming weak carbonic acid).

Is distilled water an acid or an alkali?

Distilled Water is neutral - neither acidic nor alkaline as it has a pH value of 7

What is the difference between the pH value of distilled water and the theoretical pH expected?

Distilled water's pH is expected to be exactly 7; however small amounts of CO2 entering the water then form H2CO3. This can lower the pH to around 5.0 - 6.0.

What is the solution of a pH lower than the pH of distilled water?

pH value of distilled water would be 5,6 and 7 as interaction with the atmosphere allows carbon dioxide to dissolve into it, forming carbonic acid. salt on its own has no ph value but , when mixed in water the ph value of common salt is 7 and it is neutral.

What is pH for distilled water?

the pH of distilled water is 7.0 and is the same as pure water The solution is acidic.

If distilled water has a hydronium ion concentration of 1x10-7M what is the pH of a distilled water?

Distilled water has a pH of 7. It's neutral.

What is the pH value for strongly acidic?

The lower the pH value is from 7 (distilled water), the stronger the acid, so 1 would be the strongest acid.

Can rainwater have a pH of 7?

Pure water (distilled and non-aerated) would have a pH value of 7.0

What is distilled water on a pH scale?

Distilled water, if it is truly distilled to purity, has a pH of 7. This means that the concentration of hydrogen ions dissociated from the water is 1x10-7 mol dm-3. Often, distilled water is impure, and is slightly more acidic (it has a slightly lower pH than seven).

What has the pH of 7?

the distilled water

Is a pH value of 5 acidic?

Anything below the pH of 7 is an acid. Distilled water is at a pH of 7 and is considered the 'middle' of the pH chart. Anything above 7 or at 7 is a base.
