Most people now think Native American is the politically correct name for the First Peoples. However, it depends upon with whom you are speaking. Some of us prefer American Indian, First Peoples, First Nations, etc. If you were to ask us we would most likely tell you our tribal name such as Northern Cheyenne, Teton or Pequot rather than Indian or Native American. Truthfully, we would most likely refer to ourselves as our given name such as Joseph,Donna or Blake.
