Some of his descend…ants are still involved in Germanpolitics. . a German battleship from World War II, named after Otto vonBismarck. It was one of the largest battleships ever built, but washunted down and sunk by the British Navy. . in parts of the US and Canada, it's a kind of jelly donut . an alcoholic drink made from a mix of dark beer and champagne,which Otto reportedly loved. . the name of several cities, notably the capital of the US stateof North Dakota. Most of these are also named after Otto.

Young Kaiser William II had, at that time, fantasies about appealing directly to 'ordinary people', to industrial workers. It's famous because British writer Cecil S. Forester wrote a book about it in 1959, and the British made a film about it called "Sink the Bismarck" in 1960. Otherwise, it san…k itself on it's maiden voyage rather than letting the British navy take credit for sinking it. German sailors (there were hundreds of survivors) had been stating for years that THEY scuttled the Bismarck, and the Royal Navy didn't sink it. Dr. Ballard dove on the vessel in the 1980's and proved that the German's were correct! They sunk their own ship!
