Japan's Shrinking Population Myth

OK, now it is shrinking, but the media jokers in Japan have been saying for years that it has been shrinking. It hasn't. I've searched a few websites and found some variance in the figures. Here goes:

2006 Japan population is 127,463,610 according to the 2006 estimate. Japan population is one of the world's slowest growing. People in Japan, at present are growing at a speed of 0.02 percent per annum. This led to the myth of Shrinking of Japanese society.

Has the population of Japan increased or decreased in the last 10 years? Contrary to the Propaganda, it has increased. In 1998, there were about 126 million people in Japan. In 2008, there are about 127 million.

Looking at the longer term, from 83 million in 1950, Japan's population is expected to be 104 million in 2050. That's an increase, though it is less than the present bubble peak overcrowding standing-room-only condition.

Are Japanese people an endangered species? No. There are millions of them, and they're not even a species.

1998 CIA: Japan Population: 125,931,533 (July 1998 est.)

2008 CIA Japan Population: 127,288,416 (July 2008 est.)

2015 = 127,993,000

From Websites (see related links below):

Japan 1950 = 83,625,000 1998 = 126,281,000 2050 = 104,921,000

2008 1JUL2008 = 127,704,000

1DEC2008 = 127,000,000 (estimated projection)
