∙ 14y agoThat depends on what definition you want to use, but the US Government Department of Health and Human Services issues "Federal Poverty Guidelines" each year. The amount considered to be the "poverty line" depends upon where you live (due to varying cost of living) and family size. The 2007 guidelines are below:
