Call the local welding supply store--every welding supply chain I know of sells this stuff for a different price--to get the prices for various sizes of helium cylinders, then do some math.

I'm trying not to be real noncommittal here, but there are three welding supply stores in my city and they all charge different prices for their gases.

The cost of helium fell from $2500/ft3 in 1915 to 1.5 cents /ft3 in 1940. The U.S. Bureau of Mines has set the price of Grade A helium at $37.50/1000 ft3 in 1986

Which is better helium or argon?

Argon is better. Helium can't compare to it, not in terms of cost, usefullness, availability, personality, attractive appearance, intelligence, or ambition.

is helium used in air balloons?

It can be, but usually not. Helium is a bit expensive, and it'd cost too much for most balloonists to use it. It's cheaper to use a hot air balloon. helium is lighter than air. hence balloons filled will helium will float in air.

Is helium expensive?

Yes, helium is considered to be expensive. It is a finite resource and its production and supply are limited. The cost of helium has been increasing in recent years due to the growing demand and limited availability, which makes it relatively expensive compared to other gases.

Why was hydrogen used on the hindenburg?

The Helium Control Act (1927) controlled the export of helium outside of the United States. At that time, the US had a production monopoly on the gas. A secondary factor was the cost of helium due to the general scarcity of supply.

What kind of gas is inside a weather balloon?

Contemporary weather balloons are usually filled with helium. Helium is lighter than air, and this allows the balloon to rise as this gas is lighter than air.Hydrogen would also work as it has a low density, like helium. And hydrogen is a bit cheaper than helium because it can be "made" from water. But hydrogen is flammable or even explosive, and it is generally not used for that reason.

In theory it is a pure element. However, due the the cost of obtaining really pure helium, it is likely to contain trace amounts of other gases.
