The purpose of blood is multiple.

1.) To deliver oxygen and other nutrients such as glucose to cells that are active around the body.
2.) To remove carbon dioxide and other waste products such as creatinine from active cells.
3.) To provide an immune respone to foreign objects or pathogens or indeed to stop bleeding.
