An 18 year old male should be consuming about 2600 Calories per day, as the male body hasn't fully finished maturing and needs additional energy. However, depending on the amount of physical activity and weight, your energy requirements may be higher or lower. A highly active 18 year old male would be nearing 3000 Calories per day, whilst a very sedentary person of the same characteristics would need closer to 2300 Calories.
The general rule of thumb for pretty much everybody is somewhere around 2000 calories per day. The main thing to think about if you don't want to gain weight is to just make sure that you do not take in more calories than you burn everyday.
It all depends on your individual needs. I suggest talking to your doctor about what is right for you.
