Well, in our school, we did a survey of the whole school of the people who had cats and wether their female or male and it seemed that the female cat, produces more of the male gender then the female gender, and cat owners prefer male cats since their more outgoing and cuddly, while the female is more conservative and keeps to herself. So ,our result was 3/5 of the cat population is male, ironic huh, since the female cat is the only one that produces :) AHAHA

How can you tell if your Calico Cat is male?

There is no such thing as a male calico cat and a male cats behind would be sticking out and a girls behind wouldn't have anything sticking out. --- Calico males are extremely rare, so it is safe to assume your calicoes are all female.

Does a cat's coloring indicate gender?

Sort of. A Calico cat is almost always (99.9% of the time) going to be female. The reason is that the female has two X genes, one has to carry red and the other black to get the 3 color effect. For a male to be a calico, it has to have XXY and is normally sterile.

No, there are females as well. Yes, there are female orange/red/ginger tabbys, but the chance of one being born is about 20% Verifying the above statement, around 1/4 of orange cats are female. :) To get an orange female, both parents must have some orange in them. To get an orange male, the mother must be orange or tortoiseshell/calico, and the father can be any other colour. Actually 80% of orange tabbys are male with the rest being sterile it is a mutation in the xy chromosone

Can female calico cats have babies?

no they dont die at birth. They may have shorter lives than regular cats. The reason of male calicos appearing is because there was something wrong in the sex cell of the parent. Most likely an extra chromosome or a mutated one

Why are most calicos female?

Almost all calicos are females. A male calico may be sterile and have deformities. This is because male cats only have one X chromosone, and calicos need two of them to produce the calico coat. This is the same for tortiseshell cats, too. Hope I helped
