Based on a study in Manitoba in spring 2000 the rate is 198.5 people for every 100,000

*Note that this study is just one of the many IBD studies done and published but seems to represent the rates for North America at that time. Previous studies in the early 80's set the rate much lower however diagnosis was not as reliable. Newer studies are available from various clinics and all have different statistics such as the study by the Mayo clinic.
