I'm 48, have never been a runner but have taken it up recently because it's a faster way to get the workout done. When I was in college I ran a little for a fitness class--averaged 6 mph during a 4-6 mile run, (10 minutes per mile,) and thought I was doing well (I hated running, still am not a big fan but I like how I feel when I'm done!) Now I'm averaging closer to 9 minutes per mile (over a 3-4 mile run,) and I think I could probably do a single mile in 8 minutes or less. I'm kind of proud of myself. We ran on a track last night and I lapped a younger couple jogging together three times. :-)
well the average time for around that age group is about 9:57 or 10 minutes , although age doesn't matter if you have a goal of 7 minutes and your a runner by heart who's in shape go for it ! :)
My husband is 51 years old and he ran a mile in 7:32 minutes.
That's not very fast, Masters category which is highschool and above. Ive seen a 50 year old run it in under 5:00 minutes.
