They store sperm. The testes containing the seminiferous tubules are the sites of spermatogenesis (making the sperm cells). The epididymis stores the newly made sperm cells until they are mature and capable of being motile. If sperm are not ejected from the male reproductive system in a timely manner, the old sperm degenerate and are resorbed by cells lining the duct of the epidiymis. (McKinley, Michael. Human Anatomy.
