Pure Democracy exists only in a small state or nation, as that type of political government requires citizens to vote on all issues. That is not practical as a nation grows, so Representative Democracy (a republic) was created in which the citizens elect the members of the government and give them the power to run the daily activities of the nation, vote on legislation, defend the nation, etc. The people retain the power to vote in new representatives and replace government office holders who violate their agreement with the people by not representing them as required by the constitution or regulations of that office. In Democratic societies, the supreme power rests with the people, otherwise it is not a Democratic society.
I would say that one responsibility of government is to make the basic necessities available and within reach of all citizens

Yes, because the people should be standing up for their country and should be wanting to take part instead of being forced into it. if the only way is to force them then it has to be tried. But, they shouldn't make people fight because people have a freewill (their own chioce) and if they do not wish to take part then they shouldn't be forced into it. Althoguh they should have the ambition to join the war and help fight for their country and not be frorced into it. Hope that helps :)

It depends highly on which point of view you see it from. On the one hand, people began to see that they had more power to control the government with force, which in turn lead to an influx of protests/riots when the people didn't like the decision of government, whereas previously they were more quiet/accepting of the government. From the governments perfective however it showed that they should be more wary of the people and that they actually had a lot more power than they thought. The royal argument for this would've increased the laws regarding treason- making harsher punishments than previous.

In a democracy, we are most concerned with ensuring that people will have the right to choose their rulers and people will have control over the rulers. If they do not work properly , people can overthrow them. . Whenever possible and necessary, citizens should be able to participate in decision making, that affects them all. Thus, democracy produces an accountable government.

Thus making the federal government the overall head and consequently superior in policy making and implementation. Though the states may be autonomous to some extent, it is accountable to the federal government.
