As carbon dioxide built up in Venus' atmosphere, more thermal radiation was trapped. The increasing heat released more CO2 into the atmosphere which trapped even more thermal radiation.
It's called the greenhouse effect and it makes it so heat can come into the atmosphere but it can't leave so it's super hot.

does venus have a slow rotation?
the greenhouse effect
Energy from the Sun causes wind.
which of the following describes characteristics of the stratosphere
Some of the heat from the warm earth is trapped by greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, where it adds to the warming of the earth. The rest of the heat escapes into space.
The greenhouse effect captures the sun's energy and keeps the earth warm.
Carbon in the atmosphere traps it like in a greenhouse.
This is standard heat energy that is trapped by greenhouse gases.

Energy from the Sun causes wind.
Well, the sun gives off energy (or heat). When it hits the Earth's atmosphere, it absorbs that heat or energy. the energy is then trapped in the atmosphere. This is called the "green house effect."
Heat energy.
The greenhouse effect is caused when energy from the sun penetrates Earth's atmosphere. Some of the light bounces back and escapes, but the rest is trapped by particles in the air, and that is how Earth's temperature is regulated.
The earth's atmosphere is affected by solar energy because the energy creates a greenhouse effect. When the radiation of the sun makes the earth too warm, there will be too much greenhouse gas that gets trapped in the atmosphere.
