The second step of photosynthesis requires carbon dioxide (CO2) and several enzymes to catalyze a complex series of chemical reactions. The temporary energy storage compounds from the first step provide energy to combine carbon dioxide (CO2) with larger molecules to form glucose: a carbohydrate. Glucose can then leave the chloroplast to be used as energy for the cell. Glucose can also be combined in different ways to make other carbohydrates such as sucrose (table sugar), starch (long-term storage sugar), or cellulose (insoluble fiber).

Stage 2:

Synthesis: a- CARBON FIXATION - carbon dixoide attaches to RuBP and becomes a 6C carbon that breaks down into 2 PGA

b- REDUCTION- PGA is energized by ATP. Hydrogen and electrons are donated from NADPH. PGAL is formed (which is primarily used to make glucose)

c- REGENERATION - not all PGAL molecules leave, and they are instead used to regenerate more RuBP

The second stage of photosynthesis is the Calvin Cycle, with light reaction being the first part. Light reaction doesn't produce any sugar in photosynthesis so this is what happens in the Calvin Cycle. The Calvin Cycle brings CO2 into organic molecules and turns it into sugar.
