There are several very short words in English. One is the interjection "O." You will see it today as "Oh" but for many years, it was written only as "O." Also, the pronoun "I" is a short word, and so is the article "a."

A and I. I can also be spelt eye, but that has a completely different meaning, so yeah. A cannot be spelt differently because a is a is a. If you want a shorter word than this then don't write anything on your page; there you are, you have the shortest word.

And if you think a word with zero letters is not in the dictionary, consider this: if it was there, and the definition consisted of words of zero length, it could be on every page.
