It is the home of our beloved prophet muhammad (peace be upon him) and it is the place where islam came into being. Mecca is the holiest city in islam. The holiest mosque is in mecca and millions of muslims from all over the world go to mecca every year to perform the pilgrimage which is one of the 5 basic pillars of islam and is compulsary only to those who are capable to do it.
