The Stock Market ticker is a term which came from the 1800s. It got the name from the actual printing of securities' transcitions on a tape which was displayed and produced in individual brokerage office. It was a machine, and it ticked: tick, tick, click, tdick, a lot of noise. Hence, ticker.... The words refere curently to the display of securites' prices as they occure. (on the computer, the tV and others, the dispay is frequenlty delayed.) (I'm not sure a ticker existes any more. You know all that sutff in movies tosssed oughn out windows, with a ticker tape parade? Now we just have to throw out CRTs. It sure messes up the festivites below. Alais!) Go to the NYSE and ask the queson; the Bunnion Tree peoplel really need just now for people to interested in their jobs, the ones which remain, that is. CEOs are just haveing a hard time staying.J ob security as in haveing a job is difficult when one has really screwed up. (By most standards, CEOs are not really hurting; no problem, for them, but for the egos.)
