Nobody knows who the first person infected with HIV was, except that it happened deep in the African bush far from any "civilization". The virus originated in some primate native to that area and may have been transferred either via a bite or scratch or by the bush meat trade. The person infected then passed it on via the usual "exchange of bodily fluids" means now known to transmit it person to person, but died long before the disease was identified, so there is no way to find him/her.
HIV mutates very rapidly and likely became more adapted to humans than to the primate it had come from before it had infected more than a few dozen victims. However it does not really "belong" in humans, in the primate species it came from it may not have been fatal, but having transferred across species in humans it is fatal. This is a common effect of transferring a virus or other parasite across species lines.
