Macbeth is about a Scottish man who is lord of Glamis. He meets three witches who makes a prophecy. The prophecies were that he is a lord of Glamis, he will be lord of Cawdor and he will be king.
It is a play by Shakespeare.
He kills various people such as king Duncan, Macduff's wife and children and Banquo, in order to gain power after he met some witches who told him he would be king.
It's basically about this really ambitious soldier who kills the king of Scotland and he, himself takes the king's place, with the help of his wife Lady Macbeth, who is one crazy evil woman.
Lady Macbeth also lusts for power like Macbeth, but she is much more evil than him, but their personalities change throughout the play. Anyway, she helps Macbeth to murder basically everyone, so they could win asll the power. P.S., the previous king of Scotland was King Duncan. His son was supposed to be the next king, but he was away, so he couldn't take over his father's place.
So Macbeth kills everyone, but Lady Macbeth suicides from her guilt and her 'bloodied hand'. Macbeth becomes insane and Macduff, whose family was killed by Macbeth previously, invades Scotland from England and beheads Macbeth.
Then Malcolm, who is Duncan's son, becomes the new kind of Scotland.
The end.
Hope this helped?
Macbeth is a tragedy by William Shakespeare about a regicide and its aftermath. It is Shakespeare's shortest tragedy and is believed to have been written some time between 1603 and 1606, with 1607 being the very latest possible date. The earliest account of a performance of what was likely Shakespeare's play is April 1611, when Simon Forman recorded seeing such a play at the Globe Theatre. It was first published in the Folio of 1623, possibly from a prompt book for a specific performance. Shakespeare's principal sources for the tragedy are the accounts of Kings Macbeth, Duff, and Duncan in Holinshed's Chronicles(1587), a history of England, Scotland and Ireland familiar to Shakespeare and his contemporaries. In the back-stage world of theater, some believe the play is cursed and will not mention its name aloud, referring to it instead as The Scottish play. Over the centuries, the play has attracted the greatest actors in the roles of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. The play has been adapted to film, television, opera, novels, comic books, and other media.
The Scottish general, Macbeth, together with his friend Banquo, have just fought back-to-back battles to repel invaders of Scotland. On their way home they meet three witches who greet Macbeth as Thane (Scottish term for Lord) of Glamis, Thane of Cawdor and king that shall be. To Banquo they predict paradoxically that he will both lesser and greater, happier and less happy than Macbeth and what's more Macbeth may be a king sometime, but Banquo's decendants will be kings. All of this seems implausible especially since someone else is Thane of Cawdor at present but almost immediately a couple of nobles show up and tell Macbeth that the Thane of Cawdor has been executed for treason and Macbeth is now the Thane of Cawdor.
As the witches' batting average as prognosticators has suddenly and dramatically improved, Macbeth decides to tell his wife about the predictions. Her first thought is to kill King Duncan and speed up the process, although she worries that Macbeth will be 'too full of the milk of human kindness' to do the deed. And, as fate would have it, the king decides that now would be an ideal time to sample the Macbeths' hospitality.
Well, Lady Macbeth was right about the milk of human kindness--Macbeth is ready to back out and it takes all of her considerable skills in arm-twisting to get him to agree to the murder. She helps out by smearing the king's servants, who she has conveniently put to sleep with drugs, and their knives with blood, making them the number one suspects.
But this is not the end. Macbeth becomes paranoid, worrying that his position is insecure, and an insomniac, which drives him crazier. Lady M also finds out that being Queen is not as happy an experience as she had naively expected. Sure she gets to wear the nice crown and lots of nice clothes but she never reckoned on the cost. As she says, 'Nought`s had, all's spent, when desire's had without content'
Marked by the blood of their victims, their lives become increasingly empty, tedious and meaningless. Their lives become Hell.
Macbeth is simply a play written by William Shakespeare, and within, there's a character named Macbeth, which has been given the tile of Thane of Glamis, later thane of Cawdor, and at last the King.
It's about a guy who hears a prophecy that he will become king of Scotland, and who unfortunately tells his wife about it. His wife persuades him to kill the king so he can become king. He does kill him and he does become king, but it turns out to be very unsatisfactory for both of them.
At a very fundamental level, Macbeth is about guilt.
OK, first you have to know that Macbeth is not written like any novel or other story you have ever read. It is a play, which means that it is instructions on how to put on a play, with the lines that the actors are to say. There is no description of anything except that which happens naturally in the dialogue between the people in the play.
The basic plot on which the play is based is that Macbeth, a cousin of the king of Scotland, hears a prediction from some witches that he will become king. Encouraged by his wife he kills the king and does become king himself, but the guilt of the murder eventually drive both Macbeth and his wife crazy, and he is deposed as a tyrant.
The play is way more exciting than that summary would suggest.
