Si Jose Marcelo Ejercito (ipinanganak Abril 19, 1937), na mas kilala bilang Joseph Ejercito Estrada, o Erap, ang ikasiyam na pangulo ng Republika ng Pilipinas o ika-13 simula noong Unang Republika. Ipinanganak siya sa Tondo, Maynila. Anak siya Nina Emilio Ejercito, Sr., na isang inhinyero, at ni Maria Marcelo. Pinasok ni Estrada ang larangan ng pulitika noong 1967 nang mahalal siya bilang Alkalde ng San Juan, Kalakhang Maynila. Noong 1971, pinarangalan siya bilang "Outstanding Mayor and Foremost Nationalist" ng Inter-Provincial Information Service at ng sumunod na taon bilang "Most Outstanding Metro Manila Mayor" ng Philippines Princetone Poll. Noong 1989, tinanghal siya ng Philippine Free Press bilang isa sa "Three Outstanding Senators of the Year". Isa si Estrada sa mga senador na tumangging sang-ayunan ang bagong tratado ng US Military Bases na papalit sana sa 1947 Military Bases Agreement na nakatakdang magwakas noong 1992. Nakatulong nang malaki sa pagkakapanalo niya bilang Bise Presidente ang kaniyang popularidad bilang aktor noong halalan ng Panguluhan at Pangalawang Panguluhan noong 1992, bagama't siya ay tumatakbo sa hiwalay na tiket ng noon ay nanalong Pangulo, Fidel Ramos.
