If it is a dry cough ( no mucus, just scratching of your throat ) Than just fluids and cough drops ( it stays closer to your throat and will relieve it)
If there is mucus in your chest, try a hot shower to open up it up and lots of water and, if it's Allergies, benadryl . If not than some DayQuil..

Phenergan plain is more to thin secretions, so increase fluids. Phenergan w/codeine is to suppress cough. DO NOT take Phenergan w/ codeine with other cough syrup with dextromethorphan, also a cough supressant . You WILL get sick to you stomach.
