What is the strongest muscle in the body relative to it's size? |
In direct proportion your tongue qualifies as the strongest for its size; it is commonly mistaken that your heart is the strongest however, you heart only beats and is actually quite weak when you draft comparison by size and muscle density. Your tongue on the other hand can apply different amounts of force in multiple applications; try this, put your pinky finger in your mouth at the roof of your tongue and have a finger war with your tongue, try push it down, you tongue will win. Keep in mind that your tongue is a relatively small singular muscle, not a muscle group comprised of separately functioning muscle fibers.
My finger wins so I am not sure if this is correct??? We have tried this with three people and in two out of three cases the pinky finger won the tongue wrestle
Dear wiki-scientist,
Your finger does not have muscle in it. Fingers have tendons. The tongue is the strongest and sexiest muscle in the human body (relative to its size.)
