If the torque converter is slipping your engine will start to stall and cut out eventually you will be driving and the car will rev in the drive position as if it is in neutral go to a transmission shop and get the tech to test drive your car.
It will run, but fuel economy and engine performance will suffer.

Does the power steering and a/c compressor use a common belt? Belt may be slipping or glazed
on all of the fords that I have owned they have been screwed into the exhudt manifold just before it goes into the converter
