What! I've just returned from Melbourne. I was taken to the CBD (Lonsdale st) via the Bolte bridge. The driver charged me a total of @71.30 this included taxes of around $7.
A rip off. He wasn't the only driver to try to rip us off during our weekend stay. The Melbourne Taxi drivers are worse the the Sydney lot...and that's saying something.

∙ 15y agoBy car it should take between 20 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Cab queues can be very long though, especially on weekdays from 5pm onwards (usually business people returning from all day meetings held in Melbourne, Canberra or Brisbane). The train takes around 25 minutes - check timetables at city rail website.
