C'est la possession la plus évaluée de Poh Poh, qui est passée sur le poumon de Sek après sa mort. La pivoine de jade a symbolisé la culture et les traditions de la vieille Chine qui sont restées fortes avec Poh Poh dans son nouveau pays. Pendant qu'il était passé dessus au poumon de Sek, il a commencé à développer plus de caractéristiques de Poh Poh après sa mort. La pivoine de jade était là pour que le poumon de Sek maintienne sa culture dans le Canada. La pivoine était là pour le garder de perdre sa culture comme beaucoup d'autres nouveaux enfants immigrés. Car sa famille entière est passée par une série de changements pour devenir plus canadienne, lui et la pivoine étaient là pour les rappeler leurs racines culturelles
