The Holocaust

The themes are justice, The Holocaust and curiosity. Bruno is a curious boy and he is very naive, has very little understanding of the Holocaust. The book is looked apon from a child's view and everything seems confusing and unfair. Especially to Shmuel, because he doesn't see how Bruno can be complaining about where he lives. Bruno's new house seems like such a luxury compared to Auschwitz where he lives with thousands more. It is based on justice.

"Friendship can be found anywhere, no matter who you are and where you come from."

Edit:

One could also talk about how Bruno was able to find hope in his life despite his difficult circumstances. Also, one could discuss how innocent Bruno was.

he main themes of the novel include (but are certainly not limited to):

1. The innocence of childhood. Bruno and Shmuel share a great deal in common but perhaps what is most striking is the childhood innocence which characterizes both boys. Bruno is unaware that his father is a Nazi commandant and that his home is on ther periphery of Auschwitz. Shmuel, imprisoned in the camp, seems not to understand the severity of his situation. When his father goes missing, Shmuel does not understand that he has gone to the gas chamber.

There are several themes in the book but forbidden friendship is definitely the main one. also how brutal and cruel the war is and of Jewish people were treated with no respect.

Even the most horrific events can disappear through denial. Even though they lived doorsteps away from the stech of the burning flesh, they ignored the events that were happening around them.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is a book, and later a movie, About a Boy whose father works for the Nazis. Innocent to what is going on in the world, the boy wanders near a work camp and meets a young Jewish boy around his age. After befriending the Jewish boy, they both die in a gas chamber, showing how horrible the camps really are. The theme is that the Jews are just like other people.

historical fiction
The boy in the striped pyjamas is a fable. That is where a fictitious story is told with a moral at the end.
Probably, drama. But, it could be considered Horror because the Holocaust is horror. But it would probably be labeled "drama".
