1st law: Enery can neither be created nor destroyed,but it can be transformed from one place to other.

2nd law: (i) No heat engine is more efficient than tha theoretical carnot engine.

(ii) In a closed system entropy can never decrease.

(iii)There are irreversible processes.

3rd law: If the kinetic energy of all the molecules is removed then a state called absolute zero will occur.

There are four laws of Thermodynamics

Zeroth Law - If any two systems are in equilibrium (balance) with each other and either one is balance with a third system then it can be assumed that they are all equal; that is in equilibrium.


First Law - Energy can not be created or destroyed, it can only change forms. The rate of change in energy in one system must equal the rate of change in energy in an opposing system. If system A decreases by one degree then System B will increase by one degree.


Second Law - Heat or Energy can only flow from a higher energy system to a lower energy system but not the other way around.


Third Law - As a system approaches absolute zero all processes cease and activity continues at a minimum rate. This basically means that you can not reduce anything below absolute zero because that is the activity at which there is no energy present.

The total energy of an isolated system remains constant though it may change from one form to another
