Of course the secret to that answer is very dependent on where you are at when you decide to make that journey. If for example you were in Chicago, Illinois a simple answer would be to head south for about 391 miles and you will then be very close to Mammoth Cave. The mode of transportation of course could vary and that choice would be up to the individual. Walking is a pleasant way to pass some time, but driving might be faster if you are pressed for time.

Yes, Mammoth Cave was a hospital, a TB Hosptial in fact. Dr. John Croghan, owner of Mammoth Cave, along with everyone else at that time, had no idea how to cure TB. He thought that maybe the cave's constant temperature and humidity would help TB patients. So, he took 16 voluntary patients into Mammoth Cave where they remained for 10 months. They stayed in stone and wooden huts which were built by the slaves of Dr. Croghan. One of the patients left on his own, and eventually most of the patients died. We now know, of course, that the cold, dark, damp cave was the absolute worst place for TB patients, but Dr. Croghan was just trying anything to help his patients.

A time line can be used on grapgh paper to display the order of events on a horizontal plane, that uses a "line" with dates and events that lead to a final outcome. As an example, a time line can be used to display the time & events that the Roman empire began and ended.
time lines are basically a sequence of events in order.
A time line not only shows the chronological order in which a set of events occurred, but also, if done to scale, gives a visualization of the relative time between events.
