The Trade Africa International Corporation and Trade Africa Entertainment, acted as the exclusive licensee and distributor of Warner Brothers Home Video, MGM/UA Home Video/RCA/Columbia Home Video, Orion Pictures Home Video, Hanna-Barbara Home Video, Turner Pictures Home Video, Marvel Entertainment, Mad Magazine, DC Comics, EC Comics, television programming and other American and European media in several Africa countries. With the MPAA and the MPEAA the company helped to influence changes in Kenya's copyright law. The company began by importing AA grade coffee from Kenya and selling it to US roasters in the midwest; it then moved into other commodities such as sisal products which were sold as "Kenya Bags," a ubiquitous handbag in the 1980s, through the trade marts in Chicago and Atlanta. The company is credited for opening a legitimate, legal market for copyrighted filmed entertainment in East and West Africa. Its two main distributors were Video West Africa, and Video East Africa. Jack D. Rollins, and area expert in Africa, began the company with Mark Roy Sandstrom, Esq (Washington, DC), and Michael J. Levin, Esq. (New York City). The company ran its office through the Warner Home Video International office on Wardour Street in London.
