Answer

Hi Jackie,
I received this article just a few days ago from a fellow member of a Yahoo site. Interesting, and goes well with the new memorial to those slaves who's blood and sweat New York was built with.

Answer

that first link should be taken with a grain of salt since it HINGES upon opinion. There is no proof that the statue was originally intended to be black, and besides that the article ASSUMES the statue was meant to be any color in particular. I don't think it's worth mentioning in history books that the statue MAY have originally been intended to be black. For one there's no PROOF and for two it's already been established in ALL American history books the deep level of rascism aparent in the united states. Is it necessary to constantly repeat this childish cry of "America was soooo rascist" with poorly written propaganda. The Equality movement needs to look forward, not back.

Answer

The following is a good read about the first answer. It debunks the claim.
