Loud buzzing noice in an ac controler
The purpose of the shading coil in some appliance motors is to start rotation in the correct direction for the appliance to operate properly.

Shading pole. It helps to stop the relay from chattering.
A coil of wire or a coil in the shape of a cylinder is a typical shape for an electromagnet (or a solenoid). The strength of the magnetic field of an electromagnet can be increased significantly if the coil is wrapped around an iron core. This configuration may be called an inductor when used as an element of an electrical circuit.
I was reading about my lava lamp because i haven't used it in years and wasn't sure if they "went bad" after a while. And i came across a site that said,"The coil should then automatically drop to its correct position (after 4 hours or more) at the bottom of the globe. If the coil does not drop down, twirl the globe gently in the base and the coil will drop.". So, I'm assuming the coil is supposed to be free flowing. hope that helps! and here is the website that has the info: http://www.coolstuffcheap.com/lavalampfaqs.HTML
A shading coil induces currents to create an additional electrical phase. The coil pauses slightly to control magnetic flux. Delaying magnetic flux allows for a secondary rotating magnetic field to build.

A shading coil in a contactor is used to hold the AC contactor's pole faces closed during the transition of the voltage through the zero voltage phase of an electrical cycle. For an excellent description see related links below.

A broken coil spring will cause the effected corner of the vehicle to drop. A broken ignition coil will cause the engine to misfire (coil on plug application) or cease to run.
No, the broken coil spring affects the vehicle's ride height. The front coil springs should be replaced on both sides to ensure the front height is even. Check with your local dealership to see if there is a recall for broken front coil springs for your vehicle - have your VIN number available.
Check to see if your getting 9.5 volts to the coil hot wire if so, the coil is faulty due to broken windings internally.
what do you mean continuously.when the engine is running yes it pulsates very fast to fire all 8 cylinders even at idle.with a spark indicator on the coil it will appear to be continuos not like an indicator on an individual spark plug which you can see the pulses the coil runs 8 times faster
You want to set your machine up as a long stroke for shading. Soft spring action, and about a 2 nickel space on the top coil. You want a soft spring and long stroke so that the needle physically takes longer to hit the skin. Keep your voltage down low.
Cylinder #4 misfire. The cause is usually in the secondary circuit. (You can often smell the catalytic converter trying to process the unburned fuel. If so, that confirms your problem's electrical, not in your fuel system.) In earlier models, typical cause is high-resistance (bad, internally broken) spark plug wire. In later models, typical cause is a bad coil (coil on plug--COP) for engines so equipped.
Contactor chatter can be caused by a broken shading ring winding on the pole face of the contactor. Low voltage to the coil can be another reason for contactor chatter. A constant hum on a contactor will be caused by misalignment to the two pole faces. Check for rust building up on the two surfaces.
