Morgan dollars have the word spelled TRUST. Peace dollars have it spelled TRVST.
To be blunt, this question comes up all the time and the answer is always the same. There are NO misspellings on U.S. dollars.
In the 1920s it was popular to use the Roman alphabet for classically-themed artistic works. Latin only had 24 letters; V was used for both our V sound and the vowel U, similar to the way C is pronounced like S or K. The use of the Latin spelling was common on other coins as well - see the Standing Liberty quarter, for example.
Bottom line - this spelling was a matter of artistic license and NOT an error.
