In circulated condition its value is determined by the fact that dimes were made of 90% silver up till 1964.

Circulated values, as of 04/2010:

Very worn condition - $1.55

Moderately worn - $1.58

Slightly worn - $1.59

Almost no wear - $1.60

If the coin is uncirculated, look on the back to see if there's a small mint mark letter next to the base of the torch. It may be blank or there may be a D or S. Numismedia lists the following approximate retail values:

Uncirculated:

No mint mark (Philadelphia): $1.73 to $1340.00 depending on quality

"D" mint mark (Denver): $1.73 to $1130.00

"S" mint mark (San Francisco): $3.45 to $1380.00
