What is the value of a 1974-D half dollar? |
[Edit] |
Answer
Fifty Cents, unless there's something special about it. A dealer would probably charge $1 for one in uncirculated condition.
The "D" is not a sign, it's called a mint mark. It indicates that the coin was minted in Denver. The other current mint marks are P for Philadelphia, S for San Francisco, and W for West Point. Only Philadelphia and Denver currently strike coins for circulation. Among other things San Francisco makes proof sets and West Point strikes commemorative coins.
