If it is copper, it will be either a Penny, a Halfpenny or a Farthing. All three coins are virtually identical except for size.

The Penny is 35mm in diameter.

The Halfpenny is 29mm in diameter.

The Farthing is 21mm in diameter.

Whatever it is, if it is uncirculated and in absolute mint condition, it could fetch anything from £150 to £300 GBP.

If it has been circulated but still in good condition, it might fetch up to £10 to £70 GBP.

A reputable coin dealer will be able to give a more accurate valuation and help with a positive identification.

Your coin is either a Guinea or a Half-Guinea. They are almost identical in appearance except for size, the Guinea being larger at 24 mm. They are referred to as "Spade Guineas" due to the spade shaped shield on the reverse.

A British 1789 22 carat gold Guinea (George III), circulated but still in good condition, might fetch anything from £250 to £825 GBP.

A British 1789 22 carat gold Half-Guinea (George III), circulated but still in good condition, might fetch anything from £175 to £700 GBP.

A reputable coin dealer will be able to assist with proper identification and give a more accurate valuation.

A British 1797 gold Third-Guinea coin (KG III), circulated but still in good condition, might fetch anything from £90 to £350 GBP.

The values quoted are the best possible for the best specimens in their grades, but may be significantly lower due to varying demand for the coin and the prevailing economic climate. A reputable coin dealer will be able to give a more accurate valuation based on inspection of the coin.

Due to Britains ongoing expenses with various wars in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, there were very few silver or copper coins minted.

The 1790's was not a great decade for British coin production by the Royal Mint.

Any 1790's British coin featuring George III on the obverse and Britannia on the reverse would be a copper -

1797 (cartwheel) Twopence (41mm in diameter)

1797 (cartwheel) Penny (36mm in diameter)

1799 Halfpenny (31mm in diameter)

1799 Farthing (23.5 in diameter)

If your coin does not fall into any of these categories, you possibly have a privately minted tokens or counterfeit coin.

To get an estimate of value on a privately minted token, you need to provide the details of the inscription on the token.

Your coin is most likely either a British Guinea or a Half-Guinea. They are similar in appearance except for size, the Guinea being larger at 24mm diameter, the Half-Guinea being 20mm in diameter. Both have a crowned shield on the reverse.

A British 1772 22 carat Guinea (George III), circulated but still in good condition, might fetch anything from £300 to £1,100 GBP.

A British 1772 22 carat Half-Guinea (George III) is considered to be extremely rare.

A reputable coin dealer will be able to assist with proper identification and give a more accurate valuation.

That depends on the coin's denomination, as George III was on all British Coins at the time. Post a new question with full details.
