Assuming you have a gold-colored "Loonie" coin, it's only worth face value.

Canada stopped printing $1 bills back in the late 1980s and has used $1 coins ever since. Like their US counterparts the coins are gold-colored but not gold. They're made of base metal with brass plating.

well they have been out of circulation for 22 years but are still quite easy to find. can be purchased for about $5 a piece.
