If you've ever been a patient you would know that answer. Although nurses and doctors have to be sure not to get too close or involved with their patients, there should always be compassion and a soul within us that realizes the patient is frightened (often terrified) may be in pain, may not have relatives coming up to see them or are completely alone. Compassion with dignity towards the patient is the key. If one can give compassion and relax the patient then helping that patient as far as care-giving is much easier. I don't know if you are asking for monetary value or not, but, I sure hope it's because you want to be the best you can be at this type of work and never lose compassion or take away the dignity of the patient involved.
