There is no definitive answer to this. The weight depends on the size of the book. A paperback Harry Potter book would weigh more than a Lord of the Flies paperback book. What book are you talking about? A short story or War and Peace? A far better way to get an answer would be to take the book you're interested in to a someone who has a postal or laboratory scale, and weigh it directly. Alternatively, you can calculate the weight based on a book's dimensions. For example, a college textbook measuring 11" x 8.5" x 2.35" weighs 5.65 lbs giving the following formula: weight = (L x W x H) / 39 where: * L is the height of a book page * W is the width of the book from the spine to the edge of a page * H is the thickness of the book, including the cover * 39 is a constant to give the result in pounds if measurements are in inches.

Use 1412 to give the result in kilos when measurements are in centimeters. This formula ignores the edge of the cover that extends beyond the pages and variations in paper quality.
