Western Europe is not an island. There is a lot of confusion about what are the island nations. Iceland is an island nation in western Europe. Great Britain is an island which consists of 3 countries, which are England, Scotland and Wales, so it is not a country in itself as some think. Northern Ireland, which together with Great Britain creates the United Kingdom, is on the separate island of Ireland, so the United Kingdom is not an island. Ireland is an island, and it consists of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
