60" 60's GMC and some Chevy's Dana 44 or Dana 60 with leaf springs 6 lug, Gear ratio's 3.21 to 3.92. GMC V-6 used a 3.21 Dana 44 used a standard Chevy 1310 yoke, Dana 60 used the heavy duty yoke which takes the larger 1350 yoke.
Depends on the rear axle the car has. 10 bolt is most likely 8.25" for a 1968, but 8'5" is also possible. 12 Bolt is 8.875".
It is the stamped identification number on a 12 bolt rear housing for a Chevy/GMC vehicle that measures 60.625" axle tube end to axle tube end. Mostly truck housings but there are exceptions to this rule.
The term "10-bolt Rear End" is usually used in reference to a common General Motors rear wheel drive solid axle differential. It refers to the ten bolts used to secure the ring gear to the differential cage and is used to distinguish it from it's larger and more durable 12-bolt predecessor.
Most trucks in the 1980s did not come with 12 bolt rear ends. The most common was 14, but 10 bolt rear ends were also in evidence.
8.5 10 bolt and a 12 bolt as an option.
All you need to do is count the bolts that hold the rear end plate on the housing.

The 12 bolt is GM's strongest rear end and the 8.5" 10 bolt is also a great rear end that will hold up fine.
