How do you wire new speakers to a radio in a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup?

first you have to pop the door panels off then unscrew the stock speakers and pull them out then there should be aclip on the back side of the speaker pull the clip off and if your replaceing it with oem speakers just clip in the oem speakers but if your gonna use no oem sppeakers/ like wal-mart car audio speakers you have to cut the clips off and wire it to the prongs on the back of the replacement speakers.

* in my 1998 dakota ext cab sport the rear speakers were 6 1/2 and the new pioneer 6 1/2 were barely able to fit and all the mounting holes need to be re-drilled. ( remove the clips in the body for the original speakers to prevent them from rattling. With a small screwdriver just pop em straight out as they are just clips them selves.) You could actually get away with a 6 3/4 inch speaker with a better fit as the pioneers new holes were very very close to the speaker hole. also note i had the infinity speaker system and the wires for that are not the color codes given here. unfortunatly i did not write down what they are but if you look at your new speakers and the old the skinny post on the new is negitive and the fat post is positive. The infinity speakers do not show the + or - so to figure out which wire was which in the back speakers the tweeter is with the 6 1/2 inch cone, the fronts have the tweeter seperate from the cone with the cone being in the bottom of the door by your feet and the tweeter is in the door panel under (driverside for illustration reference) the power mirror controler. if you look at the backs of the tweeters you can see the + or - and figure out which is + or _ sub-note on this: the rear speakers will get destroyed to do this task as you need to break the tweeter off the cone to see the back of it. Be careful tho to not rip it off with the wires pulling off to aid in identifying the + or -
