July 13, 2009 The 1911 Barber dime was minted at 3 mint facilities, Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco. The mintmark is located on the reverse [tails] side of the coin under the wreath. The letter "D" indicates the Denver mint. The letter "S" indicates the San Francisco mint. If there is no letter there at all then that indicates the coin was minted at Philadelphia. The letter "P" is shown in listings to indicate the Philadelphia mint. [Example 1911-P ] The values are shown by grade in the chart below. It's plated or just looks like gold. The US never made gold dimes. No gold coins with a denomination of less than one dollar have ever been made by a U.S. Mint. With a date of 1911 it's a Barber dime and is worth about $3.00 for the silver in it.

How much is a copper dime 1911 worth?

There's no such thing as a copper dime. All 1911 dimes (in fact all dimes up till 1964) were made of a 90%-silver alloy. It's quite possible your coin is simply an ordinary silver dime with a lot of tarnish. If so, don't try to clean it; that'll reduce its value to a collector. There's more information at the Related Question.
