What is there to know about Adolf Hitler? In: World War 2, Adolf Hitler |
Adolf Hitler was the absolute Dictator of Germany under the Nazis from 1933 to 1945. The story of his rise to power alone takes up a shelf in the library. He was one of the most murderous of dictators in an age of murderous dictators (see Stalin). Hitler was personally responsible for triggering World War 2 in Europe, during which World War somewhere between 50 and 70 million people, human beings like you and me, lost their lives. Hitler created the atmosphere in Germany (nowhere can it be proved that he personally ordered it) that led to what is known as The Holocaust, during which somewhere between 5 and 7 million Jewish people alone lost their lives in deliberate murder (not to forget the other 5 million or so persons who were not Jewish but who were not up to Nazi "standards" and therefore could also be murdered).
What is there to know about Adolf Hitler? So much that it goes far beyond any answer possible in this forum, but start with the excellent link below for a good general biography. Then go to your public library and ask your librarian to help you learn more about Hitler and Germany during the Nazi period. I'm glad you asked because studies and random surveys have concluded that an astounding number of people today cannot tell you who the combatants were in World War 2, who started it and why, or even who won! (The good guys did, thank goodness.) As George Santayana said in 1905, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
