A foot massage is really no different than any other massage. The skin on your feet is the thickest skin on your body also your feet take "a lot" of abuse all day long. I would recommend massage creme instead of a lotion as this would help with giving the actual massage along with providing extra moisturizing care to the skin. If you prefer a more natural lubricant you can use olive oil (small amount) this is great for moisturizing the skin on your feet. Soaking the feet in warm water just prior to the massage would also be very beneficial for the receiver of the massage. Learning the basics of reflexology would be a great added feature to a foot massage as there are many areas on the foot to apply the benefits of reflexology. Simple reflexology charts are easy to find on line. Overall, an average foot massage should cover the foot, ankle area and part of the lower leg and the overall time for both feet is around 20 - 25 minutes. Word of caution: Do Not massage areas that are bruised, red or tender or open cuts.
