It could be any number of things, like Paarvo or Distemper. Take your dog to the vet, regardless of the vaccinations it's had! No vaccination is one hundred percent effective, though they certainly do make a big difference in the rates of illness. Paarvo and Distemper are always fatal if not treated quickly.

∙ 16y agoCould have an intestinal parasite, or parvo-virus if it's throwing up too. You may want to try a bland diet for a while, like hamburger and rice, and get a better quality food. Ol' Roy from Walmart usually really bad for giving gas!

∙ 12y agoIt depends why the dog ate the grass.
If it has an upset stomach and then eats grass, the dog will often regurgitate the food and the grass to clear it's stomach to make it feel better.
Sometimes a dog will nibble grass for no other reason that it enjoys doing so.
Also if the dog does happen to eat grass it could hert them when they poo it out, which isn't plesant to pick up! :P

∙ 10y agoThere are many conditions and diseases that could cause vomiting and diarrhea in dogs. In puppies the most concerning would be parvovirus infection, which can be rapidly fatal due to dehydration and nutrient loss. Adult dogs are more likely to have parasites, foreign bodies or gastrointestinal displacement. In senior dogs, cancer moves towards the top of the list.
Regardless of cause, it is a good idea to have your veterinarian examine your dog soon to see what is going on and to provide treatment.

∙ 13y agoActually, yes, they just have an upset tummy, and that's how they "get things settled". Keep an eye on their diet, as SOMEthing they are eating is upsetting them.

∙ 14y agoIt is very common for dogs and cats to eat grass to make themselves throw up when they have an upset stomach. Its the equivalent of you sticking your fingers down your throat.
