With my past experience I have found out that at 14 years old that I had what is called Degenerative Disc Disease in which the disc in between your vertebrae may become compressed as the disc loses the blood and literally starts to dry out and collapse on the nerves...which could be your sciatic nerve as well which is the nerve that runs all the way down your spine through your hip bones and down the sides of your legs. Determine on what type of pain you've...if its sharp stabbing or needle-like it may be nerves...if its just aching or soreness it may be inflammation of the muslces, and if its weakness (falling) numbness or anything of that nature go make a doctor's appointment right away to get an MRI done so they know whether major nerve compression is occurring. As far as treatment options it depends on what you have. I've tried physical therapy which has failed. Chiropractors which have failed. Pain management doctors which have failed (and may I might add have very painful procedures but niccceee meds to help sooth the pain away), and finally a nuerologists/nuerosurgens are the last people to talk to. Good luck I feel your pain!sounds like your sciatic nerve, you need anti-inflammatory drugs and/or a chiropractor and rest for a couple days...very painfulyour lower back could be stressed..I'd say back or pelvis problems..go see a doctor

ANSWER

You may be sitting on your buttocks for a long period of time. This is aggravated if you are obese.

ANSWER

both true answers above,

also i find my mattress makes pats of my body sore, including around the hip, buttock area due to the fact that it is old and worn

make sure your mattress ain't like mine, ie its healthy and reasonably new with no lumps and bumps.

definitely see your doctor and a chiropractor if you can, although your doctor should be able to help you

(adding to the above posters answer, take up some light exercise(see your doc first as you could do damage by exersising with certain problems)

go for a walk every day, a jog, a swim, even just stretching is exercise. especially if you sit a lot, as your body can degregate( when its not in use for long periods)

ANSWER

It may be that you have a form of Arthritis called ankylosing spondylitis. This involves inflammation of sacroiliac joints. It would require diagnosis by a rheumatologist and usually involves a bone scan (looking for inflammation in said joints) and blood work. It seems to occur more commonly between the ages of 21-30.
