oxygen senser
Does it backfire? Check timing. as well as Check that which controls the idle. Does it backfire when you try to start it after it dies? check the computer for coades and check all vavume lines and wire conections Control module and coil are the common ones.
Did u try to change the fuel filter or leave the gas cover off and see if that helps. On my 1990 Z-24, it was the crankshaft sensor.
try unplugging battery for about 5 minutes and make sure the gas cap is on all the way
check fuel filter, sounds like your not getting fuel,
it is propaly you fuel pump i had the same problem
I have a 2000 Chevy Cavalier also. I had the same problem, which ended up being a head gasket leak. Have a compression test done to confirm. The cylinder heads are aluminum and warp easily. Have it shaved down to make it true, then replace the head gasket. Do it yourself cost: approximately $110 for a head gasket kit. Good luck.
more than likely it is your alternator, have it tested.
check the idle speed motor
Try checking your battery cables, make sure they are tight... also there is a ground cable attached to the base under the battery, make sure that bolt is tight as well.... had this problem with mine.
sounds like the ignition module is failing in the heat.
If a 1988 Chevy Cheyenne dies when it is put into gear, check the fuel pump. If the fuel pump is not getting adequate fuel, it will cause the car to die.
