Appeasement does not work with friend and foe relations. It is worse than agreeing to disagree. It is a lose/lose proposition. The foe is not really appeased since he does not get what he truly wants in the conflict. Hitler was not appeased because he wanted all of Europe and did not want to abide by the Versailles Treaty. The only thing appeasement does is buy time for the friend to build up ways to oppose the foe and more time for the foe to make plans on how to get what he wants. Think of little kids. If you have them fighting over toys and you tell them to share that still does not satisfy the child who wants exclusively what the other child possesses.
