Africa's culture is unique. Also Africa's history is one of a unique. For example of the Slave Trade its a history that will be remembered, very depressing.

Africa's culture is very ancient. African history goes back further than in any other place on earth; scientists believe that the history of humankind began in Africa. The slave trade in Africa is also very ancient. Egypt was importing slaves from central Africa about four or five thousand years ago. Then between the tenth and fifteenth centuries, Timbuktu (now in Mali) was a chief slave trading center until the Europeans joined the slave trade in the early sixteenth century. The history of Egypt is one if Africa's unique features and one of the earliest empires. Africa is very rich in minerals. For that reason, Africa has suffered under centuries of colonialism and most African countries have suffered much internal strife and political upheaval since the end of colonialism. The art and music of the African people is also one of it's most important features and certainly unique.

South Africa is unique in that it was once under an oppressive apartheid government and is now a democracy. The white Dutch who colonized the country fought against the British and under the National Party in the 1960's, established the repressive apartheid regime. The African National Congress was the largest movement lead by black leaders which overthrew the regime and since the 1990's, has been a parliamentary democratic system.
